On your day of exploration, there are lots of things to do outside of the glampsite, and on good authority, we can highly recommend a visit to Al’s Coffee Hut at Mussenden Temple. Grab a quick ‘caffeine kick’ for a burst of energy before you set off to explore the 100 acres of National Trust estate which is free to public access. Make sure to check out the Downhill Demense, the Black Glen and maintained gardens at Bishop’s Gate.

 Take a romantic walk or drive to nearby beaches, Downhill and Benone Strand; and enjoy miles of sweeping sandy beach, or step into Castlerock town for delicious food and thirst-quenching drinks. Or for those wishing to take a dip in the sea, grab a boogie board and have a go at riding waves in the frothing surf.

2. Lisnabrague Lodge - The Fox’s Den, County Down

These glamping pods by Lisnabrague Lodge are the perfect getaway for Valentine’s Day. The Fox’s Den sleeps up to four people if you love those ‘kiddos’ enough to take them with you! 5. The Wild Atlantic Bus - County Galway

What was once a double-decker school bus working the busy streets of London, is now a luxury glamping accommodation stay in County Galway. The wonders of unique glampsites never cease to amaze us! With all the attributes of a classy hotel, the Wild Atlantic Bus is a perfect unique stay for Valentine’s Day 2022.

Richard, the owner of the Wild Atlantic Bus, had converted many VW Campervans in his life but took his skillset to the next level when he took on his biggest project yet. When he first met the 28 year old double-decker bus, Richard decided it was the one and he successfully turned it into a wonderfully unique holiday and accommodation experience for friends, couples and families from around the world.

Inside the bus, you will be pleasantly surprised by the space, fittings and exceptional comfort provided.  Downstairs amenities include:

  • A fitted kitchen with Belfast sink
  • Toilet and shower room (it’s small, but acceptable!)
  • Wraparound cushioned seating area
  • 7KW wood-burning stove

Surrounded by its own garden, outside of the Wild Atlantic Bus also features a fire pit, a seated decking area, and an outdoor cabin for coats and wellington boots. Something that makes this stay extra unique is the outdoor shower. Specifically designed to give you the experience of showering in nature, but with complete privacy (aside from the occasional cow in the field). The outdoor shower has three windows overlooking the countryside, a fern stone floor and a cedar wood interior which offers a fabulous aroma when wet – shower here to awaken your senses day or night!

The Wild Atlantic Bus is located on the outskirts of Oughterard, County Galway in the heart of nature near Richard’s country cottage and only a 5-minute walk down a picturesque country lane to the famous Lough Corrib, one of the last remaining native brown trout lakes in Europe.
