Description
White Park Bay Beach (often spelled Whitepark) is a stunning, sweeping arc stretch of golden-sand beach between two headlands on the rugged North Antrim Coast, located just outside the small village of Ballintoy. This secluded location is the perfect lure for those wishing to take time out of their schedule for a little rest and relaxation.
The bay, with its 3 mile stretch of soft-golden sand, often tempts visitors wishing to walk the 1.4 mile loop between the two headlands; a walk well worth the effort just for the uninterrupted views from the top. The North Antrim coastline offers breathtaking views for as far as the eyes can see.
On busier days (summer months) there is plenty of room for all, so you can enjoy a peaceful stroll at your own pace, maybe build a sandcastle, or lay down a picnic blanket and just sit and admire the ocean views.
There is a variety of flora and fauna nestled in among the ancient sand dunes, including hardy grasses and rare orchids, the perfect habitat for a wide range of birds and wildlife. Archaeologists and adventurers are often seen scouring the shoreline for fossils, such as Ammonites – patience and a keen eye are both required.
White Park Bay, situated in the town land of White Park; has been under the care of the National Trust since 1938, along with many other places of interest along the coast.
All are welcome, as are dogs, but please ensure your dog is on a leash, or kept under strict control. Dog fouling is an offence, please bag it, and bin it!
The waters along White Park Bay are very inviting but not suitable for swimmers due to the heavy rip tides/currents around this part of the North Antrim Coast.
Did you know?
Sheep and cows are often seen on White Park Bay beach as they amble down to the grasslands for grazing.
