Hello! We are Emma and Pete and we established Peatlands as a small, family-run business in 2024. Originally from Portrush and Cardiff, Pete’s Bread micro-bakery started from a cabin in our small garden in Oxford during the Coronavirus pandemic, and the idea for Peatlands began to form not long after - a secluded, peaceful and restorative getaway in the natural beauty of the Causeway Coast. We found our perfect spot nestled in a mosaic landscape of woodland, wetland, peatland, farmland and meadow, and just a stone’s throw from the coast, creating a haven for an abundance of wildlife species, including the elusive and enchanting Irish hare. No doubt, we underestimated the work to follow! But it’s hard to beat looking out of the window of a cosy shepherd’s hut to see a couple of juvenile hares playing and scampering up the boardwalk in the winter sunrise. There is company and connection in the activity of nature - and freshly baked bread! - and we envision Peatlands as a special place for solo travellers and couples alike in all seasons.
