We are a farming family who live on the side of a Wicklow hill 5 minutes outside the quaint village of shillelagh. We have approximately 160 sheep which provide new lambs for the market once a year in march and less than 40 cows/cattle. Myself and my wife saw an opportunity to utilise the beautiful natural landscape and altitude of where our homeplace and farm are located. We both enjoy being outdoors and decided based on our own changing tastes in terms of the type of getaway we now desire that there was a demand for retreat type escape where you are immersed in nature and away from it all. This led us to the creation of the glamping site we have now. The pod was also chosen due to the renewable nature of the materials and that the shell is made from a recycled plane and also the fact of its durability and the harsh nature of the weather that we get due to our location. Our family also has a previous stake in green energy and we have a windfarm on our land which consists on 5 wind turbines distributed across the hill so the Aeropod also ties in with our green ethos.
